3. Carrying out or using a procedure through executing or implementing.Applying related and refers to situations where learned material is used through products like models, presentation, interviews and simulations.
Digital additions and their justifications:
- Running and operating - This the action of initiating a program. This is operating and manipulating hardware and applications to obtain a basic goal or objective.
- Playing – The increasing emergence of games as a mode of education leads to the inclusion of this term in the list. Students who successfully play or operate a game are showing understanding of process and task and application of skills.
- Uploading and Sharing - uploading materials to websites and the sharing of materials via sites like flickr etc. This is a simple form of collaboration, a higher order thinking skill.
- Hacking – hacking in its simpler forms is applying a simple set of rules to achieve a goal or objective.

Lesson Ideas
Interactive TimelinesThe website MyHistro allows students to create interactive timelines using Google Maps. Students can link an event to a specific place on a map including a date, picture, and description of the event. These timelines play automatically, showing the progression of events over both time and location. This would be an excellent tool for students to use when trying to visualize a novel or research that takes place over many years and in many locations.

How does it work?
Below is an example of students using MyHistro in the classrom. For this project, students read the novel Night. When we finished the novel, students created a timeline using MyHistro that included the events of the Holocaust and WWII running parallel to the events from the novel. Looking at the timeline, you can see how this student showed the events and locations of the novel and how they related to the events of the war. This helped the students see how the novel fit into real life and history, making it more real to them.
